Two criteria must be met before SLGA can issue a gaming licence. The organization must be a charitable or religious organization (see Eligibility) and the funds raised through gaming must be used for a charitable object or purpose.

The applicable application form(s) must be completed in order to conduct or manage a Texas Hold 'em event, Monte Carlo event, bingo or raffle or to sell breakopen tickets (see Types of Licences).
